Message from a Soldier: Pvt. William Compel

Mess Call

This “Mess Call” card from the Bugle Call Series was mailed with a funny message by Private William Compel of New York City to Miss Lillian Compel:

“These are the kinds of waitresses we have at the Base Restaurant! Oh Yeah! Love + Kisses- Willie

P.S. I borrowed this pen!”

Willie enlisted in July of 1942 and mailed this card August 25, 1942 while he was at Buckley Field in Denver, Colorado.
