Washington Street Bridge

In honor of the Chris Christie bridge scandal, here is a postcard of the Washington Street Bridge in Chicago. It was mailed August 22, 1914 with the message “Still alive.”

This bridge is featured on the website historicbridges.orgk, which says it opened on May 26, 1913. The photo below is pictured on the website, titled “Historical Photo of Newly Built Bridge.” You can see this is the exact image used for the postcard.

It’s always funny to me to see the same images reused on postcards so many times. Or, in this case, just to see the photo the image came from!

Also, lol @ “Still alive”. Good to know, sender!
