Hotel Ponce De Leon

“The first great resort hotel of Florida’s East Coast Hotel System was started by Henry M. Flagler in 1885, completed in 1888, costing about two and a half million. Its Spanish Moorish buildings and magnificent grounds surrounding them cover about 13 acres of reclaimed land in the heart of the city. Royalty, Presidents and other famous personages have been its guests.”

That’s the back of this postcard of the Hotel Ponce De Leon in St. Augustine, Florida. Presidents and notable guests who stayed here include Teddy Roosevelt, Warren G. Harding, John D. Rockefeller, and John Jacob Astor. This hotel has been a part of Flagler College ever since the college was founded in 1968.

I wouldn’t have minded going to this school! Happy 125th anniversary!
