1939 New York World’s Fair- Mural on Foods Building

Mural

There were multiple food buildings at the 1939 New York World’s Fair, and the Food North building had a mural on it done by Pierre Bourdelle, which showed harvest scenes. If you look closely at the card, you can make out what looks like people picking crops, someone walking with baskets, and also someone plowing:

This building had an exhibit called “The World’s Largest Store Counter,” where Junket was an exhibitor. Samples were given out, and ladies dressed in Danish clothing showed how to prepare some of Junket’s desserts.

What I also like about this card is that there is a sticker on the back that says “Official Souvenir, purchased at the N.Y. World’s Fair.”

pretty cool! just thinking that since Philadelphia is the mural capital of the world, it would be great if there were postcards of the murals with info about each one ( I do have the books!!)
