These two cards of Hawaii were mailed by a soldier, Robert E. Cumbey, a Technician Fifth Grade. Both cards were mailed to his mom to be saved for his collection. He was in Co. A of the 718th Amphibian Tractor Battalion.
“Dearest Mom, Here is another scenic view of Honolulu- one of the places I’ve been. Just now found the card in a drug store and will send it to you, so that you can add it to my collection of cards. Love, Bob.” Mailed August 27, 1944.
“Dearest Mom, this is the famous Hawaiian Hotel at Waikiki Beach that I was telling you about earlier. Wish you were here so that I could visit with you. Please save this card with the others. Love, Bob.” Mailed August 27, 1944.
