Twelvetrees Dog

Twelvetrees Dog

Above is one of the few examples of a card by Charles Twelvetrees with an animal on it. I have three of his cards that are just animals, and have only seen a handful more. This dog is hiding behind a lamp post saying “I’d bite you only I’m afraid of catching something.” Ouch! What an unhappy message to send to someone! I guess John Chapman didn’t think so when he mailed it to Miss Dorothy Bryant on October 28, 1927.
