Message from a Soldier: Captain Nelson Taylor- Snow White #15

#15

In the 15th card of the Snow White series, the dwarfs are playing music and Snow White is dancing. Only 10 more cards in the series left!

“Dearest Mike: At Ghent yesterday we saw a castle over a thousand years old. From this castle knights in armor set out on the first crusades to Jerusalem. Love Dad.”

Captain Taylor is most likely referring to the Gravensteen Castle. It’s name is Dutch for “castle of the count.” It was built around 1177 while Fillips of Alsasse (a.k.a. Philip of Alsace) was the Count of Flanders. He died during his second crusade in 1191. The castle can be visited today and has been restored.
