Birthplace of Helen Keller

This card from Amelia’s stack (which I actually think was sent to her son- I never scanned the back in) shows the cottage that Helen Keller was born in on her family’s plantation in Tuscumbia, Alabama. The name of the estate was Ivy Green and was situated on 640 acres. The site can be visited today, where Helen Keller’s braille typewriter and some of her dolls and other possessions are on display. The estate has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1954.
