Lake Monona and the State Capitol, Madison, Wisconsin

I found this card in a dealer’s 25 cent box one time so I picked it up. The current capitol building was built in Madison between 1906 and 1917 for $7.25 million. The first capitol building was built in Madison in 1838, and was later replaced by a larger building in 1863.

A mural of Edwin Blashfield’s “Resources of Wisconsin” is in the dome of the building, and is the only dome made of granite in the United States.
