I picked up this postcard two weekends ago from a dealer at an antique store that was clearing out everything he had. It shows Teddy Roosevelt on a visit to Chief Eng. Stephens (Isthmus of Panama). Stephens was the chief engineer who led construction of the canal from 1903-1907. The card is undivided back, postmarked in what looks to be 1907. This was after the Canal Zone was formed, but still before the Panama Canal was finished being built. The stamp on the back is cool as well, so I bought this even though there is writing on the front on the image. The dealer tried telling me this was an actual photograph and I was just like “oh.” Clearly this is not a RPPC. Overall, a good addition to my miscellaneous binder.
