Postcard Message in Praise of Chicago- Wide Boulevards

“Postcard Message in Praise of Chicago” is a branched off segment from “Interesting Postcard Message.” A lot of Chicago cards I have are sent from visitors to someone at home marveling over the beauty of the city, a particular building, etc. This V.O. Hammon postcard, postmarked in 1908, describes the road layout of Chicago (fancy handwriting included!):

“The boulevards here are beautiful. They connect every park in the city and most of them are very wide. A”

Seems strange that someone would want to write a friend about how the streets are, especially since people didn’t drive as much then as we do now. If I was Anna, I would have rather heard about the houses that you can see on the left side or Humboldt Park itself.
