Interesting Postcard Message- Cats For Fertilizer

I wanted this Charles Twelvetrees postcard as it features a dog and cat on the front. I won it on eBay about two months ago. At the time I didn’t have any cards by Twelvetrees that didn’t feature children on them at all (besides a couple Easter bunny postcards). The card is postmarked 1920 in New York City, and was sent to Duke Walker in Chicago. The back is funnier than the front. It is also an unusual back because the writing is in purple ink. The message reads:

“I’m for you Duke. The only use I can see for cats is to bump ’em off and make fertilizer. Hutch”

Hutch must have really hated cats!
