Funny Postcard Message- Such a Celebrity!

This linen Ocean City, NJ postcard is postmarked 1955. The message on it makes me laugh:

“Since you’re such a celebrity we just have to congratulate you on your fame. We are having our last summer fling over Labor Day. Dot Soon, Joanne Shay(?) Betty Jackson P.S. What did you do with the $1500”

It was sent to Mrs. J Zimmerman in Mansfield, Ohio. I have always thought that perhaps she went on a game show and won prize money. And the message is slightly sarcastic, so she probably didn’t really become “famous”. I wonder what she did with her $1500. I went to a website called Dollar Times and it said “$1,500.00 in 1955 had the same buying power as $12,131.97 in 2010.” That’s a nice chunk of change!
